Epson SureColor F6460
The Epson SureColor SC-F6460 is a 44-inch (1118 mm) production dye sublimation printer for custom fabric and garments, soft and hard signage, décor and merchandise. It runs Epson UltraChrome DS ink in a four-colour set of cyan, magenta, yellow and High Density Black from 1.6 L pouches, with an integrated rotary cutter for cut-sheet output and an optional auto take-up for roll-to-roll work. Epson designed it for medium to high production volumes. Available from Sign to Badge Solutions.

1Rolls up to 44 inches
Takes rolls from 254 to 1118 mm wide on 2″ or 3″ cores, with spindle-less front loading by a single operator.
2Cut sheets or roll-to-roll
A heavy-duty rotary cutter (automatic or manual) for flat heat presses, or the optional Auto Take-Up (ATU) for rolls 432–1118 mm wide and up to 13 kg.
31.33-inch printhead
A 1.33″ Epson thin-film printhead with Variable Sized Droplet Technology and Epson Precision Dot processing, with 800 nozzles per colour.
4High Density Black ink
The CMY + HDK set gives a neutral black and, on this model, Epson says it now suits hard surface work as well as fabric.
51.6 L pouches, bulk waste
Front-loaded 1.6 L ink pouches and a reusable 2 L waste tank, with a head cleaning kit, a hatch for capping-system access and QR-code video help.

What else you’ll need
A dye sublimation production line involves more than the printer. Epson lists the following as required or recommended.
A heat press
A flat or calendar-style heat press, sourced separately, transfers (sublimates) the print onto the fabric or item.
A dryer for high-speed or roll work
Epson recommends a third-party radiant heater or dryer when printing at high speed, with heavy ink loads, or with the Auto Take-Up.
Transfer paper and polyester substrates
Dye sublimation needs fabric with a high polyester content, or hard surfaces with a polyester coating that can take moderate heat and pressure.
A Windows PC and Ethernet
A PC with reasonable processing power, memory and storage runs Epson Edge Print PRO (Windows only). Epson strongly recommends an Ethernet connection.

What is dye sublimation?
Dye sublimation prints the design onto transfer paper. A heat press then transfers the ink into the fabric or coated item, so the image becomes part of the surface rather than a layer on top.
Epson says the process suits fabric with a high polyester content and hard surfaces that accept a polyester coating and can withstand moderate heat and pressure. Epson states its UltraChrome DS ink meets OEKO-TEX requirements when applied to polyester fabric.
The SC-F6460 is Epson’s fourth-generation 44-inch dye sublimation model, designed for medium to high production volumes. Epson states the printer is designed to operate exclusively with Epson UltraChrome DS ink.
